The gospel of Luke references the eye as a lamp for the entire body. A lamp is an artificial piece of art that holds a visible radiance from an invisible source. This means that if the eye is an artificial piece of art, then the radiance it contains is supernatural. Thus, when one looks into another’s eye, the natural expectation is to witness eternal glory and radiance. It is the kind of glory responsible for moving the body to act and behave in a particular manner.
Luke 11:34 says, “The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is bad, your body is full of darkness.”
Christ Jesus is the eye lighter to Christians. His power and glory enable members to see the Heavens, where the Father sits as the King of Kings. The light of the body of Christ is through the Living Word of Father God. A truth that reveals a person’s spiritual life so that they can conduct their body according to the prescribed way.
Psalms 119:105 says, “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path.” Which means that the word of God penetrates the eyes first, then directs thy feet to walk on the good path. The good path constitutes decisions taken concerning one’s life leading an individual towards the right path of righteousness. The idea is to ensure that “your whole body is full of light” for an upright steering, while keeping your eye under the radiance of the source of all goodness – God Almighty.
Inviting the Spirit of Christ is to welcome a divine light. A kind of light that radiates the entire body to saturate it with understanding, knowledge and wisdom to be as the source; a light sustained by constant communion with Christ in the Word. For remaining in this practice, a persons’ eyes then radiate the perceived light in Christ.
“Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the Kingdom of God unless they are born again.” (John 3:3, NIV). Therefore, when the Kingdom light is on, so can you see Kingdoms’ way of being. Thus, when there is light in your house, you can see which way to be.
As you engage in this reading, it is my prayer that in Christ you live, move, and be, for “In him we live, and move, and have our being … for we are also his offspring.” (Acts 17:18, KJV)
